Guidelines for Sheds

1. All Sheds require written approval of the ARC prior to installation.

2. Style: Since many types of outdoor storage units are available, drawings, specifications and/or a picture of a similar shed must accompany the application including features such as:

a. Plastic storage units are allowed.

b. Siding and roof materials including shingles as appropriate.

c. Shed should be painted, sided and roofed to match the exterior of the dwelling.

d. Floor supports

e. Roof style: peaked or flat.

f. Ramps

g. Doors and windows

3. Location:

a. Sheds located underneath decks are permitted.

b. Sheds NOT located underneath a deck and along property lines are permitted ONLY if a fence six feet (6’) in height is constructed along the property lines, the full length of such shed. Any fence is also subject to approval.

c. Single family homes: Sheds must be installed as close to the dwelling as possible and should be fully contained within the rear yard of any such Lot.

d. Townhomes: Sheds may be located back-to-back and attached to the fence separating adjacent rear yards. 

4. Size:

a. Shed height cannot exceed six feet (6’) or the height of an existing fence on any such lot.

b. Single family homes: Sheds cannot exceed six feet (6') in height (at the peak) or a ten-foot (10') by ten-foot (10') footprint (length and width). 

c. Townhomes: Sheds cannot exceed six feet (6') in height (at the peak) or a four-foot (4') by six-foot (6') footprint (length and width). 

5. Safety: A variety of lock options are available to secure your shed and members are requested to lock sheds when not in use for child and animal safety. Especially when storing fertilizers, oils, power tools and similar items inside your shed.
